Payson Guardians is local non-profit, public and private initiative focused on community risk reduction efforts.  Our risk reduction efforts attempt to connect and empower residents to take a greater role in their own personal health, wellbeing, safety and security.  This will be accomplished through a collaborative effort between Payson Police Dept., Payson Fire Dept. and the various local governmental and non-profit agencies that provide assistance and support to Payson residents.

Based on our experience, we have found that health and safety are directly connected in inextricable ways.  To assist residents with a better understanding of personal health and safety related issues and how to prevent common illnesses and injuries is to empower them to take a greater role in their own wellbeing.

The data collected by the Fire Dept., Police Dept. and local health care providers demonstrate that the most common illnesses and injuries seen in our residents are easily preventable.  With timely, reliable and common sense information about those preventable diseases and injuries our residents will better understand their risks, vulnerabilities and prevention techniques to minimize the impact of many life-threatening and life-changing problems.

It is our intention to promote our community risk reduction efforts through local businesses, HOAs, civic and faith based groups as well as individual citizens here in Payson and the surrounding area.  Additionally, we will provide in-home health, safety and security assessments to objectively qualify the risk and vulnerabilities of our residents.  With those in-home consultations and assessments we are striving to have an impact that will reduce the incidents of preventable illnesses, injuries and security threats to our residents.

An important focus of our efforts will be to teach residents how to use the latest crime prevention technology available to assist property owners with reporting crimes to the Payson Police Dept.  Residents will be taught how they can become a watchful neighbor and to be a good witness as part of those crime prevention efforts and how to report suspicious activity in their neighborhood.

Through this community wide effort we intend to educate, connect and protect our residents with an overarching attitude of neighbors watching out for and helping their neighbors. Knowledge is a powerful influence that can help with our goal of community risk reduction.  We intend to provide both.
